Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
Shoal is for real events run by real teams. This policy lists what is not allowed. It is part of our Terms of Service.
Email and invitations
- Only invite people who expect to hear from you, or who you are legally allowed to contact.
- Do not send spam, bulk unsolicited messages or purchased or scraped email lists.
- Do not use invitations or updates to sell unrelated things, or to trick people.
- Do not abuse our email sending, for example by sending to many addresses that bounce.
- Remove people who ask not to be contacted, and respect their request.
Events and content
Do not use Shoal for, or put into Shoal, anything that:
- Promotes or runs an illegal event or activity.
- Harasses, threatens or bullies anyone, or encourages violence.
- Shows hate toward people because of who they are, such as race, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national origin.
- Is fraud or a scam, including fake events or taking payment for events that will not happen.
- Impersonates another person or organization, or falsely suggests they back your event.
- Infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy.
- Contains sexual content involving minors, or any content that harms children.
- Collects sensitive personal data you have no right or need to collect.
- Contains malware, or links to it.
Protecting the service
- Do not try to break, probe or get around Shoal’s security or access limits.
- Do not look at or change data that is not yours.
- Do not scrape, copy or crawl Shoal at scale, or overload it with automated requests.
- Do not reverse engineer the service, or resell it, without our written permission.
- Do not create accounts to dodge a suspension.
What happens if the rules are broken
We may remove content, pause sending, hide or delete an event, or suspend or close an account. Where it is safe and reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. For serious or repeated abuse, we may act at once. We may report illegal activity to the authorities. See the Terms.
Reporting a problem
If you got an email you did not expect through Shoal, or you see an event that breaks these rules, tell us at support@shoalevents.com. Include the event link or the email, and we will look into it.
