Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026
These terms cover your use of Shoal. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Shoal.
Who we are
Shoal is an event management service at https://shoalevents.com. It is run by Atlantis Technologies LLC (“we”, “us”). “Organizer” means a person or organization that uses Shoal to run events. “Attendee” means a person who registers for or attends an event run on Shoal.
If you use Shoal for a company or association, you confirm you can accept these terms for it. Then “you” means that organization.
Accounts and sign-in
- Organizers sign in with a link we email to them. There is no password.
- Anyone with access to your email can sign in as you. Keep your email account safe.
- Give us true information, and keep your email address up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what your team members do.
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to open an organizer account.
What organizers are responsible for
You run your events. We provide the tools. As an organizer, you agree that:
- You are in charge of your attendees’ data. You decide who to invite and what to collect. Under privacy law you are the controller of that data and we are your processor. See our Privacy Policy.
- You need a lawful basis to email the people you invite. Only add people who expect to hear from you, or who you are otherwise allowed to contact. Shoal sends invitations and tickets on your behalf.
- You follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
- You are responsible for your events. That includes the information you publish, the venue, safety, permits, insurance, accessibility, and any laws that apply to your event.
- You set your own refund and ticket terms. Tell attendees what they are buying, what refunds you offer and who to ask. Refund requests and disputes are between you and your attendees.
- You tell attendees how you use their data. If you add your own notices or terms to an event, they are your responsibility.
- You honor data requests. If an attendee asks you to see, fix or delete their data, you respond. We will help you do it.
Fees and payments
Each event has a plan that sets how many people can be registered for it at once. The plan for up to 50 people costs $149 per event, except that each person gets it free for their first 2 events created before January 1, 2027, counted across every organization they own. An event without a plan can be built and published, but nobody can register for it until you choose one. Bigger plans are a one-time fee per event at the prices shown on our Pricing page when you buy, and moving an event up to a bigger plan costs the difference from what you already paid for it. You pay by card through Stripe before the bigger plan applies. Plan fees are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund. Prices do not include taxes, which we will add where the law requires. We may change our prices for the future, but never for a plan you have already paid for. We do not take a cut of your ticket sales.
Paid tickets are handled by Stripe through Stripe Connect. You will need your own Stripe account, which you can create from the Payments page of your dashboard, and Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement and terms will apply to you. Ticket money goes to your Stripe account, not to us. Stripe fees, refunds, chargebacks and taxes on ticket sales are yours to handle. We are not a bank or a payment institution, and we do not hold your funds.
Your content and branding
“Your content” means everything you put into Shoal: event details, agendas, speaker information, attendee lists, updates, floor plans, logos and other images.
- You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it.
- You give us a limited licence to store, copy, display and send your content, only as needed to run Shoal for you. That includes showing your logo, colors and font on your pages, emails and tickets.
- You confirm you have the right to use everything you upload, including logos and photos.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
- You can export your attendee list as a CSV file at any time.
We own Shoal itself: the software, design and name. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the service.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Shoal running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error free. Maintenance, outages and problems with our providers can happen. Please do not rely on Shoal as your only copy of something important. Export your attendee list before big events.
We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that seriously hurts how you use Shoal, we will tell you ahead of time where we can.
Suspension and ending your account
- You can stop using Shoal and delete your events at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account, or remove an event, if you break these terms, put people or the service at risk, or fail to pay fees you owe. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first.
- When an event is deleted, its attendee records are deleted too. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- Sections that should reasonably survive ending these terms will do so, such as liability and indemnity.
Disclaimers
Shoal is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises, express or implied, about it, including that it will be error free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. We do not run, supervise or endorse the events organizers create, and we are not a party to the relationship between organizers and attendees.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, even if we were told they might happen.
Our total liability to you for anything related to Shoal is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnity
You will defend and cover us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your events, your content, your messages to attendees, or your breach of these terms or the law. We will tell you promptly about any claim and let you handle it, as long as you do not settle it in a way that puts duties on us without our agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Courts located in Louisiana have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out by talking.
For attendees
If you register for an event that uses Shoal:
- The event is run by the organizer, not by us. Questions about the event, refunds or tickets go to them.
- Your ticket link is personal. Anyone with the link can see your ticket, so do not share it publicly.
- Give correct details, and follow the organizer’s rules for the event.
- Your name, email and registration details go to the organizer. See how we handle them in the Privacy Policy.
- You do not need a Shoal account to attend.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If a change is important, we will also email organizers or show a notice in the dashboard. If you keep using Shoal after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
